In recent weeks, a surge of activism has swept across college campuses nationwide, with individuals passionately voicing their perspectives on the Israel-Gaza conflict. From institutions like Columbia and Yale to Virginia Tech and UC Berkeley, thousands have taken to protesting. Yet, amidst the calls for change, tensions have sometimes boiled over, leading to disorder and unrest.

Masked protesters clashing with police, dismantling barriers, and even threatening Jewish students have marked what began as peaceful demonstrations as chaotic. The consequence? Over 900 arrests have been reported in connection with these protests over the last 11 days, shedding light on the escalating situation.

These demonstrations, sparked by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, have become a battleground of ideologies. Tensions are running high and outside parties have been getting involved to push their own agendas.

“Professional organizers, activists, and university students” are all involved in the protests according to some schools.

Multiple encampments of tents have gathered on school grounds and the people inside refuse to leave until demands are met. What those demands vary from school to school but the majority seem to want the universities to completely cut ties with Israel. What that actually means remains very unclear.

These protests have not been limited to schools or even to America. New York has seen large protests in the city streets. Paris, London, Rome, Sydney, Leeds, Melbourne have all seen pro-Palestine protests over the last few weeks.

Just minutes ago 4/29/24, Law enforcement officials in France moved to clear protesters who were camping out in a courtyard in Sorbonne University in Paris to protest against the war. This continues to happen all over the world and won't likely stop until the war in Gaza stops.
