Helicopter crash leaves Iran's President missing

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi as well as Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian are currently missing after a helicopter crash near the border of Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Rescue efforts are still underway and are going slow due to bad weather. Among those missing is also East Azerbaijan Governor Malek Rahmati and Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem who is the representative of the supreme leader in East Azerbaijan.
The Iranian Interior Minister said this in an interview
“Various rescue teams are moving in different directions of the area but in view of the fog and the bad weather conditions it will take some time to get to the location of the helicopter.”
The armed forces of Iran reported that signals have been detected from the helicopter and a mobile phone from someone onboard. They added that they are moving toward the area with all military forces in an effort to rescue the lost men.
Khamenei has expressed his concern over the incident and reassured his country that there will be no disruption to the governance.
Many countries are coming to Iran’s aid.
Russia has stated they are ready to extend all necessary help in the search for the helicopter.
Saudi Arabia has expressed support for Iran and is ready to help.
Armenia has also spoken up in support of the rescue effort.
Turkey has even sent a mountain rescue team to help recover the President and Foreign Minister. They added that Iran has also requested the use of a helicopter with night vision.
United States Officials have stated that they are aware of the crash but declined to comment further on the situation.
