Northern India.
A six-month-old girl is snatched from her mother’s lap without warning. The perpetrator quickly makes their way to the upper level of the village structures and begins maneuvering from roof to roof.
The individual drops the child, unknown whether on purpose or because they do not lift; the child is declared dead later at the hospital.

We may think that due to the distance from typical western readers these occurrences are uncommon. Let me provide you with some numbers.

United States.
1990-2013, 275 individuals sustained direct injuries by similar perpetrators. Many of these individuals were children, some who lost fingers due to attacks.

Japan, Yamaguchi.
2022, marauders injure over 42 people in a span of mere weeks. Resulting in the more docile than American Japanese police to subdue these attackers with tranquilizer guns before removing them from the city limits. Initially only women and children were attacked, emboldened by their success, elderly people as well as adult men were targeted. In some cases entering individuals homes in some sort of targeted violence.

I am raising the alarm, non-human primate (NHP) attacks have historically existed. However, with the intelligence gains these NHP attacks have become significantly more targeted as well as more sophisticated.

We have seen gains in NHP intelligence as shown in various examples. A recent report published by Nature Nueroscience shows that NHPs are actively searching to optimize tasks. This is demonstrated by proving through a very long spoken but well put together test proving that monkeys can carefully make decisions weighing possibilities and are capable of complex deliberation.

In Thailand monkeys use stone tools to open nuts, often creating chunks and flakes of stone like those or early human cutting tools. In 2019 National Geographic claimed monkeys are 3000 years into their own stone age due to having their own archeological record.

In the same year Chinese scientists claim to have placed human brain cells into monkeys and marked cognitive improvement.

Elon Musk put Nueralink into a monkey in 2021.

I say we need to tread very carefully. Meme lore with NHPs has been on the rise since the fatal Harambe incident and pro NHP sentiment in online communities is strong with #funkyMonkeFriday and similar trends and social media pages.

In the instance where conflict was to erupt with a version of improved NHPs, that are supplemented cognitively with AI via a chip, there would be massive pushback from not only typical animal rights groups, modern “human” rights groups, but meme lords who only wish to return to monke.

If this albeit rare future is to come about, I want it known that I raised the alarm first. Let’s handle this issue while they are still animals. Ban monkeys, and monkey content.
